Fussing around

Part of making the Polling Module accessible involves changing the heavily visual “Here’s how your poll is going to look to viewers” Preview window into something screen-reader friendly, which is what I’ve been fussing with lately. The trick is, it has to be usable by a totally blind user (or anyone else on a whole spectrum of visual impairments) without being any less functional for users who can see just fine.

Thankfully, I found a way to make an accessible TextArea look like a non-accessible Label, by setting the borderSkin=”{null}” in the tag itself. With a little luck and a bit more fussing around, I’ll be able to have the Preview window and the Voting window (which by necessity has to be pretty much the same as the Preview window) up and running in no time.
